After obtaining my master degree in Astrophysics, I continued my research into streetlight energy consumption when I discovered that there was an 84% error in the government statistics concerning the energy consumption of street light in Spain. The government went on to use this data to change Spain’s public lighting policies. In that same year, I received the Space price os research as a supervisor of school students awarded by the Intituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial.

I have been involved in light pollution issues since the mid-1990s and I have contributed to over 100 popular and scientific articles.

Thanks to this work, the Spanish and international media, such as RTVE, La Sexta TV, El País or CNN, regularly contact me as one of the world’s experts on light pollution.
